Apostle Saint Peter
Prior to his apostolic mission, the Lord Himself gave
a new name to the sherman Simon, calling him Peter
(meaning “rock” in Greek). e Lord promised to create
His Church on this rock of Peter’s faith, which the gates
of hell shall not prevail. e apostle Peter saw the greatest

cruci xion. Peter disowned
the Lord three times, but he
redeemed his sin through
repentance and prayer.
